I’m Dr. Thomas Lembo, a board-certified podiatrist. After more than 20 years in private practice, one truth became undeniable: the right arch support makes a meaningful difference for sore, fatigued feet.

Finding that support, however, was incredibly frustrating. I evaluated countless over-the-counter insoles and orthotics, and most fell into two extremes: they were either soft foam that compressed and flattened quickly, or rigid devices that my patients simply could not tolerate.

I knew this frustration intimately because I had been on the other side of the exam table. Before my early years in practice, I dealt with chronic foot pain myself.

I remember standing in stores, staring at walls of insoles, trying to guess which one might actually help. The options were confusing, and most required awkward trimming and reshaping just to fit inside a normal shoe.

That frustration stayed with me—and it’s exactly why Samurai Insoles exists today.

Finding the Middle Ground

I created Samurai Insoles to fill the glaring gap I kept seeing in my practice and experiencing in my own life. Custom orthotics can be highly effective, but they aren't always necessary and can feel overly rigid. Retail foam inserts feel good at first, but lose their structure in a matter of weeks. There needed to be a middle ground.

Samurai Insoles are designed to decelerate excessive pronation rather than block it entirely.

Your foot actually needs normal pronation for proper shock absorption. The goal is not to lock the foot in place, but to guide its motion and reduce strain. Inside each pair is a structured orthotic shell that flexes under load and springs back as you walk. It is supportive without feeling harsh, and structured without being bulky.

Built to Fit Real People

One of my biggest pet peeves as a consumer and a doctor was vague, one-size-fits-all sizing. Broad size ranges are easier for manufacturers to stock, but they force customers to hack away at brand-new insoles with scissors just to make them fit.

We chose a better approach:

Why This Is Personal

Flat feet run in my family. I understand the end-of-day fatigue and the exhausting cycle of trying product after product, hoping something finally works.
